Work from home and you can toss in your current job and replace it with your very own business, a business which suits your personal needs and the needs of your family.

By working from home you:

- Enjoy freedom with your work schedule.
- Develop business and personal skills which will help you through life.
- Take control of your financial future.
- Better provide for your family.
- Have time for the things you love doing - you set your own schedule.
- Get a tax deduction for some costs which you already have today.

While it takes discipline and commitment, the rewards attainable by working from home soon motivate you to achieve more.

That has been my personal experience. I thought I would want to work an hour or so a day. Instead, I dived in and loved the hard work, knowing I could take time off when I wanted.

I had an office job, a good job. But I wanted freedom from the nine to five day. I also wanted to have more money for travel as well as investing in property and shares. I wanted to be my own boss! I felt constrained.

Now, I have freedom and I am loving it.

After looking around at the options including opening a business, buying a share in an existing business or working from home, I soon realized that working from home was right for me.

Here are the tips which worked for me:

Setup an office away from the family which is your workplace.

In the early days, set aside structured time to learn the ropes.

Get out of the office for breaks to avoid becoming stir crazy.

Network online with others in your field of pursuit.

Track what you earn by the hour worked. This is business after all.

Set yourself financial goals, it may be a trip overseas, a new home, college paid for or a share portfolio. A goal is important as this is your motivator.

Set yourself personal goals. Remember and focus on why you wanted out of the nine to five rat race. The best approach is to have an image of what you are working for - a car, trip or home, something you can think about.

While people often leave work for home, the need for an income makes working from home, well, about work. take it seriously, be disciplined, and you will reap good rewards.

Working from home is liberating, challenging, exhilarating and rewarding. That is my experience. It is also my life. Time for family, time for friends and money for my future.
